Effective Ways to take the Texas Lovebug Massacre off your Vehicle
Aside from lightly intruding on every outdoor aspect of life, and paint damage to your vehicle, the phenomenal number of lovebugs during the summer may be enough to keep you inside your Cypress Village apartment for a while. Do not let the frustration get to you, and be sure you get out and experience all of the wonderful (bug free) things to do in Houston!
The biggest concern during lovebug season in Cypress for most residents is the rapid, irreversible degradation of the paint finish on their vehicle(s) caused by running into swarms of lovebugs while driving. Once one of these ironically named bugs splatters against your car, the clock to remove them before they ruin your paint is ticking! There are a few household items and remedies that will take care of Texas lovebugs, but do not wait too long to clean them off, especially on a hot day.
Here are some great home remedies for lovebug removal that can save your car finish from being an eye sore:
-
First you will need to wash the big bugs off with soap and water. Make sure you are in a shady area so that the soap has time to penetrate the grime before it dries.
-
Dryer Sheets- apply a layer of fabric softener to the affected areas and let sit 10-15 minutes before removing.
-
WD-40- apply with a cloth, and wipe off shortly after.
-
Cola- use this remedy when the other two are not available and you need to get the bugs off quickly. The acidity in the soft drink will soften the lovebug remnants for easier removal.
